These terms are between you and Bill Jar (ABN 72 534 428 239) (“we”, “us”), and apply when you use the Bill Jar app. By using the app you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
1. What Bill Jar does
Bill Jar is a budgeting tool. It works out how much should be in your bills and savings accounts, and what to transfer each payday, from the information you enter. Its figures are estimates.
Trial access
Bill Jar is currently in a private trial. Access is by invitation, is free, is for you only and can’t be shared or passed on. It lasts until the end date we give you, and we may extend it or end it earlier at any time. When your trial ends the app stops opening. A budget kept on your phone stays there; a budget saved in your account stays in it (with a copy on your phone) unless you ask us to delete it.
Trial versions may change often and may have bugs. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Bill Jar without owing you anything for them.
2. Not financial advice
Bill Jar gives general information only. It is not financial, tax or legal advice, it doesn’t take your full financial situation, objectives or needs into account, and it doesn’t recommend any financial product. Before making financial decisions, consider talking to a licensed financial adviser.
3. Your responsibilities
- Enter accurate and up-to-date information. The results are only as reliable as what you put in.
- Check the figures against your bank statements, bills and account balances before moving money. Bills found in uploaded files can be missed or misread.
- Keep your own backups, especially if your budget is only stored on your device.
- Keep your device secure.
- You are responsible for your own decisions, payments and transfers.
4. Accuracy and availability
We work to keep Bill Jar accurate and working, but we don’t promise it will be error-free, always available, or suitable for your particular needs. We may change, update or stop parts of the app.
5. Your data
If you keep your budget only on your device, it’s never sent to us, so we can’t recover it if it’s lost, deleted or your device is reset. If you keep it in your account, it’s stored in our database so you can use it on other devices and share it, but we don’t promise it can never be lost, so keep your own backups. Deleted items stay in the recycle bin for 30 days. See the privacy policy for what we keep and where.
5a. Shared budgets
You can invite one partner to share a budget saved in your account. You’re the subscriber of that shared budget: it belongs to your account, and you can remove your partner at any time. Your partner can see and change everything in it except savings goals you mark private, and their access to Bill Jar lasts as long as yours.
If a partner leaves or is removed, the shared budget stays with the subscriber and the partner keeps a copy on their phone. To keep using Bill Jar on their own, they need their own access (and, once Bill Jar has subscriptions, their own subscription). Only invite someone you trust with your household’s finances.
6. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any consumer guarantee or right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can’t be excluded.
Apart from those rights, and to the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss or damage from using or relying on Bill Jar, including bank fees, overdrawn accounts, missed or late payments, interest, or lost data. Where our liability can’t be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to supplying the app again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
7. Using the app
We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Bill Jar for your own household. Bill Jar, including its code, design, name, text and graphics, belongs to Bill Jar (ABN 72 534 428 239) and is protected by copyright. You must not copy, share, sell, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app or any part of it, or use it to make a similar product.
While Bill Jar is in a private trial, please keep the app, its link and its features to yourself. Your access is personal to you and the email you sign in with, and ends on the date we set.
8. Purchases and refunds
If you bought Bill Jar through an app store, that store’s payment and refund terms apply, alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version, with its “last updated” date, is always in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
